What ResearchVitae is

ResearchVitae turns your public ORCID record into a fast, elegant academic page. The whole product — the editor and every feature — is free. You can export your page as a self-contained bundle and host it anywhere, free, forever. The only thing you ever pay for is optional hosting.

Your record, your page

ORCID owns the underlying data; you own the presentation. We render your public ORCID record as it stands and don’t vouch for its accuracy — that lives at orcid.org. You’re responsible for anything you add yourself (custom links, text and images) and for having the right to publish it.

Hosting subscription

Hosting keeps your page live at your address, syncs it from ORCID every day, and includes a custom domain. It’s $3 a month or $24 a year, and your first month is free. Billing runs through Stripe — we never see or store your card number. The subscription renews automatically each period until you cancel.

Cancelling and refunds

Cancel anytime, from the editor, through the Stripe customer portal. Cancelling stops the next charge; the hosting you’ve already paid for runs to the end of that period, then your hosted page stops being served. Because the first month is free and your page is always exportable, we don’t give partial refunds for time already elapsed in a billing period. If you think you were charged in error, the support contact on your Stripe receipt reaches us, and we’ll put it right.

Your page is never trapped

Cancelling or deleting your account never touches your data at ORCID and never locks up your work: export a self-contained static bundle at any time and host it yourself for free. Deleting your account removes our stored copy of your record, your settings and your published page.

Acceptable use

Don’t use ResearchVitae to publish unlawful content, to impersonate someone, or to abuse the service or ORCID’s systems. We may unpublish or remove a page that does, and close accounts used in bad faith.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product changes; any material change shows up here with a new date. Continuing to use ResearchVitae means you accept the current terms. The service is provided as-is, without warranties, to the extent the law allows.
